七夕 tanabata

皆さん、七夕にはどんな願い事をしますか？

七夕とは?

七夕とは、７月7日に願い事を書いた紙を笹の葉に付けて祈るという日本ではまあまあ大きなイベントです。

七夕はどうして生まれた？

この日は、

夜空に輝く織姫様と天の川の向こう側にいる彦星様が、

１年に１回だけ会うことが許された日だとも言われています。

恋人に会いたい一心で

織姫様はこの日にカササギの翼に乗り、

大きな天の川を渡って再会を果たすのです。

ちなみに星座で織姫様はベガ、彦星様はアルタイルで天の川は銀河を表しています。

そもそもなぜ遠距離恋愛？

どうしてそんなことになってしまったかというと、

元々織姫様と彦星様は恋に落ちて結婚して一緒に暮らしていたのです。

しかし、二人とも仕事をしなくなってしまったため、

織姫の父親である天帝は怒ってしまい、

二人を引き離してしまいました。

その後、

仕事に一生懸命勤しむ事を条件に、

一年に一度会う事を許されるようになりました。

また会うときは、

天帝から命を受けたカササギの翼に乗って会いにいくそうです。

この話は乞巧奠という物語で、

中国に伝わる話ですが日本でも昔から知られています。

七夕に願い事をしよう。

そういうわけで、

このロマンチックな７月7日に肖って僕達の願い事も叶えてもらいましょう。

3,000年の歴史がある道後温泉にいってきた。We went Dogo Hot-Spring that have history of 3,000years.

最近は休みになると台風がよく近づいてくるので家でごろごろしています。

Recently, everytime i'm off from work typhoon also approaches so i'm just home doing nothing.

先月の末に、日本最古の温泉と言われる道後温泉に行ってきました。

Last month, we went to the oldest hot-spring (or called "Onsen" in Japanese) in Japan.

そして下の写真、僕たちの行った温泉は道後温泉本館と呼ばれる道後で一番有名な温泉です。

As shown in the photos below, that's the Dogo Onsen Main building. It's one of the famous onsen.

実は今回道後温泉に行くに当たり、大きな疑問がありました。

Honestly,　there was a doubt going to Dogo onsen.

道後温泉とは、道後に湧き出ている温泉のことであり、温泉に浸かりたいだけならいっぱい温泉があるのでは、、、と。
Because if you just want to soak in an Onsen there are a lot of onsen around.どれに浸かれば良いのかパニックになっていました。

It made me panic choosing which is a good one to soak in.

 

 

 

隣の県に住んでおきながら全く知らないことばかりです。

Despite the place being a neighbor prefecture i don't even know a single thing.

勿論、道後の辺りにはたくさんの温泉がありますので、どうせなら歴史を感じれるところに行きたいですよね。答えは直ぐにGoogle先生が教えてくれましたが。

Of course, there are a lot of hot springs around dogo but saying, you want to experience and feel the history might as well try Dogo onsen.

道後温泉本館の歴史は浅い？ (Does dogo onsen history shallow?)

 

 

 

そして実はこの道後温泉本館、1890年頃に建てられたそうです。

Dogo onsen's main building was actually built in 1890.

日本最古と言われている割には結構最近ではないかと感じるのは僕だけでしょうか。

Though being mentioned that it's Japan's oldest onsen, i felt it was just built recently and not that old.

wikipediaによると、当時の町長によって、老朽化した道後温泉の再建でこの道後温泉本館が建てられて有名になったのだそう。

According to wikipedia, the reconstructed onsen's name was adapted from the name of the current Mayor during the reconstruction period thats why it became famous.

その時の総工費、13万5千円だそうですが、
During that era, the total reconstruction cost was about 135,000 yen.当時は学校の先生の給料が8円だった時代。

And at that time, a school teacher salary was about 8,000 yen.

現在の価値に直すと、学校の先生の給料20万円として、33億7千5百万円となります。

Looking into it in current value, a school teachers salary is around 200,000 yen. So the dogo onsen reconstruction value (by now) would be around 3.4 billion yen.

町の税金で作るには大規模過ぎですね。
A city tax is definitely at large scale.

ちなみに現代のスーパー銭湯では色々な温泉が楽しめるのですが、

By the way, now there are Super Sentou (Public Onsen) that offers a lot of services.

総工費が5億円ぐらいだそうなので、道後温泉本館はかなり割高になるんですね。

温泉自体は、元々お湯が湧き出ていたこともあり、
Onsen's hot water is from a natural source.3000年前にも縄文人が温泉に浸かっていたというデータも残っているらしく、
3000 years ago the Jomon people also soaked in hot springs.テレビなどでは「道後温泉は3000年の歴史がある」とも言われています。
Also in television Dogo onsen is mentioned having a history way back 3000 years ago.

道後温泉本館の温泉には４つのグレードがある? (Dogo onsen has 4 types of hot spring with different grades)

さて、話が逸れましたが道後温泉本館には4つの温泉のグレードがありまして、下記のようになります。
As shown below, are the different grades of hot springs at Dogo onsen

神の湯　階下・・・410円

Water of the God's (ground floor)

神の湯　二階席・・・840円

Water of the God's (2nd floor)

霊の湯　二階席・・・1,250円

Water of the Spirits (2nd floor)

霊の湯　三階個室・・・1,550円

Water of the Spirits (3rd floor)

具体的な違いはよくわかりませんが、間違いなく霊の湯　三階個室が良さそうです。
I am not familiar with the specific differences of each baths, but you wont go wrong with Water of the Spirits bath located at 3rd floor.

デートで来たなら間違いなく、霊の湯　三階個室を選ぶべきではと思います。
If you come for a date with someone, choosing the Water of the Spirits bath with private rooms is a good choice.

しかし、まだ付き合っていない人や、付き合いたてのカップルだと同じ部屋で着替えるので彼女に恥ずかしい思いをさせないよう注意が必要です。
But, if you come with a female company, to avoid awkwardness just be careful not to make the woman feel embarrassed when changing of clothes inside the room.

道後温泉周辺の観光スポット (tourist spots near dogo onsen)

道後温泉以外にも、松山には観光スポットがあります。
Aside from dogo onsen, there are also other sightseeing spots in Matsuyama.

道後温泉の前から続いているハイカラ通りという商店街があり、そこを抜けると大きな時計台があります。
In front of Dogo onsen is a stylish shopping street and a huge clock.

1時間に1回、盛大に時間を示してくれるそうなので興味があれば行ってみてください。
You might want to see for yourself how the clock works.



 

 

また、その横にはフリーの足湯がありました。
Also, beside the huge clock is an open flowing water where you can freely soak your feet.

暗かったのでその時は何かわからなかったのですが、後から調べてわかりました。。
But i haven't noticed it when we went there because it was already dark.

 

 

そして道後温泉から車で15分ほどのところに松山城があります。
And Just 15minute drive from dogo onsen is the Matsuyama Castle.

 



 

 

残念ながら到着したのが夕方だったのでお城の中まで入ることはできませんでしたが、
Unfortunately because we already arrived late in the afternoon, we were not able to enter inside the castle.

お城の周りの景色の綺麗なところを散歩することができました。
But, we were able to walk around the beautiful landscape around the castle.

道後温泉 Dogo Hot-Spring

最近は休みになると台風がよく近づいてくるので家でごろごろしています。

Recently, everytime i'm off from work typhoon also approaches so i'm just home doing nothing.

先月の末に、日本最古の温泉と言われる道後温泉に行ってきました。

Last month, we went to the oldest hot-spring (or called "Onsen" in Japanese) in Japan.

そして下の写真、僕たちの行った温泉は道後温泉本館と呼ばれる道後で一番有名な温泉です。

As shown in the photos below, that's the Dogo Onsen Main building. It's one of the famous onsen.

実は今回道後温泉に行くに当たり、疑問がありました。

道後温泉周辺の観光スポット (tourist spots near dogo onsen)

道後温泉以外にも、松山には観光スポットがあります。
Aside from dogo onsen, there are also other sightseeing spots in Matsuyama.



まず、道後温泉から車で15分ほどのところにある松山城です。
First, just 15minute drive from dogo onsen is the Matsuyama Castle.



残念ながら到着したのが夕方だったのでお城の中まで入ることはできませんでしたが、
Unfortunately because we already arrived late in the afternoon, we were not able to enter inside the castle.



お城の周りの景色の綺麗なところを散歩することができました。
But, we were able to walk around the beautiful landscape around the castle.

美郷で蛍を見てきた。 Firefly at Misato in Japan.

こんばんは、6月も終わり7月に入りました。

Goodevening, June just ended and a new month just started.

日本のだいたいの地域では、

6月の風物詩と言えば蛍ではないでしょうか。

　Fireflies isn`t one of characteristics of June?

蛍について

蛍と言えば、お尻が光る虫だとか、あまり長く生きられないというイメージがあると思います。

Fireflies, are insects that reflects bright lights on their tail part.

本当にその通りで、蛍は羽化してからの命は約２週間です。

Fireflies live only around two weeks.

この２週間の間に雄はお尻を光らせて雌にプロポーズしているのだそう。

During this two week duration, male fireflies is in search for a perfect mate.

一眼レフを使った蛍の撮影方法

そんなロマンチストな蛍を、この間初めて一眼レフのカメラを使って撮影してきました。

今まで、暗闇での撮影で、夜景は何度かチャレンジしたことはありましたが、蛍は初めて撮影します。

一見、三脚とリモコンを使えば、バルブ撮影の長時間露光で簡単に撮影できそうです。

しかし、蛍が光るのは連続的ではなく、光っては消えて光っては消えてを繰り返しながら飛びますので、

その蛍を綺麗に撮るためには、それなりにISOをあげて、且つ露光時間を長くしてやらないといけません。

今回はだいたいISO2000～3000で撮りました。露光時間は15秒前後でしょうか。

来年は、橋の下に降りてホタルをもっと間近で見たいと思います。

一眼レフを使った蛍の撮影方法

そんなロマンチストな蛍を、この間初めて一眼レフのカメラを使って撮影してきました。

今まで、暗闇での撮影で、夜景は何度かチャレンジしたことはありましたが、蛍は初めて撮影します。

桜 Sakura

こんにちは、もうすぐ夏ですね。

Hi, summer is near.

少し前まで、桜が綺麗に咲いていたのを懐かしく感じます。

Just not long ago was the season of beautiful blooming cherry blossoms.

日本では毎年、春になると当たり前のように桜が咲きます。

Every year in Japan before spring starts sakura begins to bloom.

だから、今までは珍しくもなんともなかったのですが、

That`s why i never find it unusual.

最近は外国人の彼女の影響で、日本の四季を楽しみたいと思うようになってきました。

But recently as influenced by my 'gaijin' girl friend, i`m also looking forward to enjoy every season here in Japan

とくにこの桜というものは、日本にあるとても綺麗な花の一つです。

Sakura is Japan`s most beautiful flower.

僕の住んでいる地域では３月末に咲き、すぐに満開になりますが１週間後には一枚残らず全て散ってしまいます。

In the area i lived, Sakura fully starts to bloom by the end of March and full bloom Sakura lasts only for a week and flowers will start to fall.

ですので、毎年この満開の桜の下で酒を飲みたいサラリーマンの間で場所の争奪戦が繰り広げられています。

And as part of Japanese people practice, everyone competes to find a good place under a fully bloom sakura tree and have fun while drinking liquor.

日本の至る所に桜がある

また、日本では至る所に桜の木が植えられており、小学校や中学校の校庭には必ずと言っていいほど植えられています。

In Japan`s elementary or junior high schools Sakura is usually seen in every school yard planted.

その理由には、実は日本の歴史が関係しています。

Which has been a part of Japan`s history.

昔の日本では、戦争で勝つために、自分の命を捧げる事は素晴らしい事だと、子供に教えられていたそうです。

In Ancient days of Japan, every children were taught that you have devote your self to be able to win a war.

そして、神風特攻隊のように、桜の花びらのように美しく散る事が誇りだと教えられていました。

As taught one should take pride because even a sakura leaves falls beautifully, just like the kamikaze squad.

その為、子供たちがそのように育つよう、学校の校庭には桜が植えられていたそうです。

That`s why sakura tree is planted in every school yard. As kids are taught to grow up that way.

GoProも良いですが、このような場面では一眼レフカメラのほうが撮り甲斐を感じます。
Using Gopro is also good, but on this setting i think using slr camera is worth it.

ちなみにですが、桜をGoProで撮ってかっこよく編集してみるとこういう感じになりました。
By the way, i also used gopro to take sakura images and tried a cool way to edit it.

GoProも良いですが、このような場面では一眼レフカメラのほうが撮り甲斐を感じます。
Using Gopro is also good, but on this setting i think using slr camera is worth it.
